Michael Jackson’s single called “This is it” will be released through Sony Music. The aim of the song is to remember Michael Jackson as the King of Pop. Sony also has announced that the company has formed arrangements with the both the management team and lawyers to create an exhibition dedicated to Michael, which will include his outfits, pictures and albums of the artist.
Sony Pictures additionally announced it has backed the Michael Jackson film called “Michael Jackson’s This is it”. The movie arrives in theatres for a limited time of two weeks in late October and will consist of all the rehearsal shots, interviews and many unseen footages of the King of Pop.
Industry professionals including music mangers, artists and studios are hoping that this will embark a grand finale for Michael Jackson and what he did for music. To contribute to the artist’s work over the years, a special album will be formed featuring the original album recordings of many of the biggest hits, also a special version of the song, which includes the backing of the singers’ brothers.
Concert promoters, AEG Live, has also announced that the official exhibition of Michael Jackson’s history will be shown throughout the world and then laid to rest at the Neverland Ranch, which is the home of Michael.
After the star’s death, the battle over his estate began, which includes Michael Jackson’s holdings of Music, Art, Property and a Sony/ATV Catalogue worth millions of dollars. This has been settled through the courts, and that holding company today owns the publishing rights to thousands of hit songs by artists such as Neil Diamond to Lady Gaga. Michael Jackson’s interests in the holdings have been estimated to be at $500 million and this is to be a part of the percentage that makes up the whole estate.
How the royalties’ schemes work is by music publishers collecting royalties from radio stations, movies and record labels everytime a particular song is played or a record is sold. Music agents throughout the industry feed off such deals, as they know how lucrative it can be to collect royalties, the agent will also take part in marketing their artist and contributing to the management of how the artist needs to be represented through PR and the media. However, it has to be said that the odds of achieving such a system can be against you due to the heavy supply of music artists.
